Pennsauken Township Creates Local Board Of Health

The Department of Health and Human Services was created by the Camden County Board of Freeholders to provide residents throughout Camden County access to quality health services and programs that are cost effective and responsive to local needs. And while this department provides a wide variety of services, there is also a need on a more basic level to address the health issues of specific communities. That’s why Pennsauken Township, under a mandate by the State of New Jersey, has created a local Board of Health.
Nominations Open For Camden County Free Roof Giveaway

Angel Tree Program Helps More Families Than Ever

Thanks to the generosity of the local community, Pennsauken’s Angel Tree program was the most successful it’s ever been. Last month, over 40 families in need were helped during the holidays.
Delaware Gardens Neighborhood Initiative Enters Second Year

Last year, UrbanPromise, Pennsauken Township officials, and several other partnering organizations announced the receipt of a five-year, $710,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Regional Foundation for the Delaware Gardens Neighborhood Initiative, a program designed to revitalize the Delaware Gardens neighborhood, whose boundaries are 36th St. to Browning Rd. and River Rd. to Route 130. With the first year of the revitalization efforts complete, the partners look to build upon its early success and continue to engage residents in community improvements.
Pennsauken Car Show A Roaring Success

The 23rd Annual Pennsauken Car, Bike and Craft Show varoomed into town Sept. 20 with almost 200 classic cars and a few dozen souped-up-to-the-max motorcycles.
A gorgeous late-summer day greeted the 2,000-plus crowd that attended the event, as did the aroma of barbecued burgers and dogs, various kids activities, and a small group of Mummers who strutted their way down Maple Ave.
Patricia McHugh, First Editor Of All Around Pennsauken
Patricia McHugh, the first editor of All Around Pennsauken, passed away on Aug. 12 at the age of 80.
McHugh was part of a handful of residents who banded together in 1997 in order to create a publication to serve and inform the Pennsauken community. In addition to being editor, Patricia also wrote a column called, “All Things Considered.”
Food Bank of South Jersey Prepares For Busy “Hunger Action Month”
The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ), the area’s largest emergency food provider headquartered here in Pennsauken, announced a series of local fund and food raising events in support of Hunger Action Month – a nationwide, month-long campaign that raises awareness and help for the 50 million Americans facing hunger.

Living Faith Christian Center to Host Community Event Where Everything is Free
Living Faith Christian Center (LFCC), located at 2323 Route 73 in Pennsauken, invites residents to leave their money at home on Saturday, Aug. 16 for their annual, “What’s Mine Is Yours: Caring Is Sharing,” themed event, where everything is free.
Giveaways will include free clothing, household items, toys, furniture, backpacks, haircuts, food and health screenings. Kids can enjoy face painting, moon bounces, hot dogs, soft pretzels, and more.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on LFCC grounds and is expected to draw nearly 2,000 people.
“Our ministry has always been dedicated and sensitive to the needs of our local community,” Senior Pastor Constance McLean, said. “This year’s event is a result of our continuing passion to ensure the well-being of the people within the community we serve.”
LFCC was founded in 1985 by Constance McLean and her husband, the late Dr. Lamont D. McLean. The ministry, which has been in existence for 29 years, started with 10 members, and has since grown to several thousand members.
