Free Narcan Training Held At Temple Lutheran Church On March 8

A free information and training session about the life saving antidote Narcan will be held on Thursday, March 8, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Temple Lutheran Church, 5600 North Rt. 130 in Pennsauken.

Made possible by funding received from the New Jersey Department of Health, presented by Urban Treatment Associates, Inc., and supported by Camden County Board of Freeholders’ Addiction Awareness Task Force, event attendees will learn how to recognize and prevent an opioid overdose.

Camden County Freeholders Announce Mobile Prescription Drug Drop Boxes

The Freeholder Board, local law enforcement and healthcare providers announced a new effort to increase public use and visibility of prescription drug drop boxes to combat the opioid crisis. The Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force made it a point to install standard drop boxes located in police departments throughout the county in 2015. Now, new, mobile drop boxes located in county vehicles will begin to be deployed to events throughout the county this year.

Special Presentation And Panel Tackled The Issue Of Opioids And Heroin Abuse

A special presentation last month at Camden Catholic High School drew attention to the serious issue of prescription opioids and heroin abuse. The free program and forum was sponsored by the Diocese of Camden, Discovery Ministries, Inc., and Catholic Charities, and had the support of numerous local groups, including Pennsauken Township’s municipal government, the Pennsauken Board of Education, and the Pennsauken Police Department.
