Fire Chief Palumbo Retires, Succeeded By Hutton

Last month, Township Committee announced a change in the leadership of the Pennsauken Township Fire Department. After almost three decades of service to the Pennsauken community, including 12 as fire chief, Joseph V. Palumbo, Sr. retired from the department affective December 31, 2022. His successor is 34-year-old Jonathan B. Hutton, a lifelong resident and third-generation Township firefighter.

The Pennsauken Fire Department is ready to launch “Operation Santa” for the holidays. Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, Santa Claus, escorted by the Pennsauken Township Fire Department, will visit every neighborhood in Pennsauken in a single day. Residents are asked to listen for the sirens and air horns from the Fire Department apparatus as Santa is driven around town.

Pennsauken Fire Department Receives Grant For New Equipment

I am proud to announce to our residents that the 2015 Assistance to Firefighters Grant application submitted by the Pennsauken, Collingswood and Camden Fire Departments has been awarded in the first round of 2015 presentations.
The overall award to the three municipalities totals $1,538,758.00 for the complete replacement of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) worn by firefighters in all three departments.

Burling, Pennsauken Schools Learn About Fire Prevention
October was National Fire Prevention Month, a time to help learn fire safety and prevention. The Pennsauken Fire Department visited the elementary schools taking part in National Fire Prevention Week. The firefighters dressed for the job, showing the students what equipment firefighters use to put out fires and the special clothes that they wear to keep them safe.
The students would like to say thank you to the Pennsauken Fire Department for their support and efforts.
