By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library
If you haven’t had time to donate items for the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library’s upcoming book and tech sale, don’t fret. There’s still time to bring books, CDs and DVDs to the Library’s Community Room before Oct. 10.
Also, please consider donating some cupcakes, cookies, brownies or other tasty treats for the Friends to sell during this annual event. Call us at (856) 665-5959, ext. 7 to let us know what you’ll be bringing. Or easier still, just drop off your treats at our bake table in the lobby right before you go into the book and tech sale to browse.
This year’s annual book and tech sale is held at the Library from Oct. 16-18 during normal business hours.

Friends Of The Library Sponsor Variety Of Fall Events
By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library
The Friends of the Library are hosting a variety of programs to be held after Labor Day.
The AARP bilingual Smart Driver Course is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 29-30 in the Library’s Community Room. Held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. each day, participants need to attend both days in order to receive a certificate for a possible 5 percent discount from your insurance company. Best to check with them first, however, to see if you’re eligible. And in honor of Spanish Heritage Month, the price for the course has been reduced to $10.00 for all participants, regardless of whether you’re an AARP member or not.

Library Spotlights Care Package Program, Red Scarf Project
When foster children turn 18, they are shut out of the foster care system and no longer receive support because at that point they are legally adults. Foster Care to Success (FC2S) has been working since 1981 to provide a support system to new adults who have left the foster care system. FC2S is the oldest and largest national non-profit organization working with college bound foster youth. Annually, some 5,000 former foster care students turn to them for help.
Families Can Enjoy A Winter Wonderland At The Library
It’s that time of year again, when we gather together to celebrate and enjoy holiday and family traditions held dear. The Pennsauken Free Public Library is here to help you with books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs for planning, preparing, and enjoying your holidays; from cookbooks and craft books to fiction and more.
Additionally, our children’s department invites you to join us for family fun at the Winter Wonderland Festivities on Saturday, Dec. 20 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., held in the children’s area of the Pennsauken Free Public Library. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there, along with the “Frozen” princesses, Elsa and Anna, as well as some elf friends. During the event, children will be able to make crafts for gift giving. So put us on your calendar and come on out to celebrate with us!
