Two Charged In Pennsauken Shooting
Danny Smith, 44, of Woodlynne and Damian Sanchez, 29, of Camden were both charged for shooting and killing 26-year-old Jerry Mass during an armed robbery.
Witnesses stated that Damian Sanchez and another individual entered Jerry Mass’ apartment on the 7000 block of Stockton Avenue, Pennsauken, while Danny Smith stood outside the common doorway. The victim was shot while the two men attempted to rob him, then fled out of the apartment and into a vehicle that was driven by Mr. Smith.
Danny Smith was charged on Thursday, September 21, 2017 with one count of first degree Felony Murder, one count of first degree Armed Robbery, one count of second degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, one count of second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and one count of second degree Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Pennsauken Police Chief John Coffey.
Police arrived at Danny Smith’s residence on the 200 block of Parker Avenue in Woodlynne early that same morning where he was arrested without incident. Smith was remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility and his pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, October 5, 2017. Under the recent Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained without bail or released with conditions.
Damian Sanchez was charged on October 3, 2017 with one count of first degree Felony Murder and one count of first degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Pennsauken Police Chief John Coffey. Sanchez was arrested in Camden by the US Marshals and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility. Under the recent Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained without bail or released with conditions.
