Vote The Bolt For New Jersey’s Superhero

Frank_ProfilesmallBy Francis Sinatra, AAP Editor

If you haven’t guessed by now by reading some of the articles I’ve written in my three years as editor of the paper, I’m a bit of a geek. In fact, if you were to stumble into my office by accident – and to be honest, that’s how I get the most of my visitors – you’d think that Avengers Mansion threw up into a disheveled pile of papers, notes and a Doctor Fate paperweight.

So I opened up my e-mail this morning and saw a message entitled, “What superhero best represents your state?” Upon a couple of clicks, I saw that CONtv, a new service offered by the folks at Wizard World that “gives Comic Con fans the immediate power to view thousands of hours of premium, fan-centric programming from their connected, mobile and preferred viewing devices,” is holding a contest where people can choose which superhero best represents each of the 50 states. In addition to picking from three already generated heroes, you have the option to write-in your own choice.

This gave me a wonderful, awful idea. I thought, “Let’s vote in The Bolt.”

BoltIf you’re not sure what I’m talking about, The Bolt is a local superhero created by Pennsauken native Ryan Brady. You can find issues regaling The Bolt’s adventures online at CamdenComics.com, and he’s a very talented young man who loves to create comics for people to enjoy.

This is a great opportunity to give some well-deserved props to a guy who continues to follow his dream and creates solely for the joy of the process. Ryan is just one of many young people who have grown up in town and do us proud. And it’s high time we share people like him with the folks who live outside our borders.

So here’s what we need to do:

1.) Visit the CONtv survey by clicking here.

2.) Select New Jersey for the state you live in and click “Next.”

3.) In the field where you can write-in your own suggest (Other), type in: “The Bolt, created by Pennsauken, NJ’s Ryan Brady.”

4.) Fill in the rest of the fields and click “Next” to submit your vote.

This doesn’t take more than five minutes of your time. And if we have enough folks to do it, we may just have our own local superhero representing the great state of New Jersey. And that would be awesome.

So don’t delay! Vote for The Bolt!
