Along Rt. 130 in Pennsauken is the location of the newest Wingstop restaurant. First announced in 2020, the popular wing chain opened its doors Jan. 6, at 6602 South Crescent Blvd., adjacent to AFC Urgent Care.
Founded in 1994 in Garland, TX, Wingstop has grown to over 2,000 restaurants across the globe. The Pennsauken location is the latest addition of the franchise to South Jersey, with approximately 10 stores throughout the state.
Wingstop offers both bone in and boneless wings, chicken tenders, and chicken sandwiches. Customers can customize their chicken with 11 different sauces, from the extremely hot atomic to a much milder Hawaiian. Several flavors: Louisiana rub, lemon pepper, and garlic parmesan, as well as their blue cheese and ranch dressing dips, are all made in house; and all chicken items are drop to order, so everything comes hot right out of the fryer. In addition, meals are served with seasoned fries made fresh every day. Fountain drinks and a variety of bottled beverages are also available.
During my visit, I ordered a chicken sandwich with hickory smoked BBQ; it was a nice combination of sweetness and heat. The seasoned fries were full of flavor and made for a tasty complement to the sandwich. The very clean dining area can seat over a dozen guests, who can watch sports and other shows from strategically placed TVs while enjoying their meals.
Wingstop is open seven days a week, from 11:00 a.m. to midnight. Online ordering and delivery are available at the restaurant’s website.
