Woman’s Club Holds Monthly Meeting On April 20

The Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 20 at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Ave., Merchantville, at 12:00 p.m. There will be a tea luncheon followed by a meeting; in addition, Dorothy Stanaitis, a certified Philadelphia tour guide, will give an entertaining presentation on “Betsy Ross: Next Door Neighbor.”

The Woman's Club of Merchantville’s book club discussed, “The Boy Who Said No,” written by Patti Sheehy. The book tells the story of Frank Medero, who was 12 when Castro took power in Cuba. By age 19, Medero made his escape to America. Sheehy and Medero were on hand to join in the discussion.

The Merchantville Woman’s Club has been one of the leading service organizations in the region.  Women from our community are members committed to making a difference. Among other things, the Club raises money for local and state charities and scholarships. Activities include monthly card and game parties and members volunteer at both the Food Bank of South Jersey and Cathedral Kitchen. If you would like to attend a meeting, or for more information, contact Jan at (609) 410-4650 or janwh@aol.com.
