World’s Best Scullers Go Head-To-Head On Cooper River
This Saturday, the world’s top scullers go head-to-head on the Cooper River. Races featuring the nation’s top high school and adaptive rowers will also take place throughout the morning.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, the world’s top scullers will go head-to-head on the Cooper River in the 2019 Gold Cup Challenge. The race is one of the last opportunities for the world’s best to face off before lining up at the Tokyo Olympics and is being held for the first time on Cooper River.
“The Cooper River is already known as one of the top rowing venues in the nation, and we’re excited to welcome the world’s best athletes to Camden County,” said Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department. “Each year we host dozens of races, regattas, and other events on the Cooper River, bringing thousands of participants and spectators to our shores. We hope to see plenty of Camden County residents out cheering these athletes on as they compete for the famed Gold Cup.”
The Gold Cup Challenge includes races among the world’s top male and female scullers, and this year’s race also features two additional opportunities for the country’s top high school and adaptive rowers to compete for the first time in Gold Cup history.
