Christmas In July Luau Benefits Worthy Causes
The Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Christmas in July Luau on Thursday, July 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Inglesby and Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Rd. For a $20 donation, participants will enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment.
A portion of the proceeds from the luau benefits Pennsauken’s Angel Tree program, which collects new, unwrapped toys for families in need. Last year, a record number of Pennsauken families were helped during the holidays thanks to generous community and business donations.
Also this year, the Luau will use part of the proceeds to help the Tony Chaplain Life Line Ministry. The Ministry provides compassionate support for first responders and their families, by helping them cope with crises they face, resulting in a positive impact on their lives and their community.
Attendees are asked to R.S.V.P. to Nancy Ellis at (856) 438-0833 or pmac1team@gmail.com.
A Message From Public Works Regarding Storm Cleanup
By Joe Scavuzzo, Director of Pennsauken’s Department of Public Works
As a result of Monday’s storm, a significant amount of tree debris was left throughout our town. Our tree crew was out clearing blocked roads from trees where PSE&G wires were not involved.
Today begins the town-wide clean-up process. While the tree crew will handle the large limbs and trunks, the rest of the crews are split into each section of town, similar to when we plow snow. Their goal is to collect large branches that are from the street and lined at the curb. We ask our residents to take advantage of today’s cooler weather and perform some clean-up today due to tomorrow’s normally-scheduled Yard Debris Collection Day throughout town.
