Pennsauken STEM School Ranked One Of New Jersey’s Best

School Families: The Board of Education and I would like to share some wonderful news about Pennsauken Public Schools, in particular Roosevelt STEM School. Roosevelt STEM School began as Burling Elementary School in the 2021-22 School Year. Burling was a K-5 Elementary School that was used as a catalyst to create Roosevelt STEM School, which is currently a K-6 School that will become a K-8 School in the 2024-25 School Year. Moreover, the first year of the Roosevelt STEM School project was the 2021-22 School Year at Burling Elementary School.

Merchantville Woman’s Club’s “A Taste Of Pennsauken” Returns On May 23

The Woman’s Club of Merchantville is once again sponsoring “A Taste of Pennsauken.” The event will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Pennsauken Country Club, 3800 Haddonfield Rd. Come out and sample the delicious cuisine of many local restaurants! Tickets are just $20 per person; and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Food Bank of South Jersey, other local charities, and our annual scholarship awards to deserving students.

Charity Softball Game On May 19 Benefits Family Of Fallen Officer

The Pennsauken Police Department and Pennsauken Fire Department will compete in a “Battle of the Badges” charity softball game on Friday, May 19, 7:00 p.m., at the Walt Nicgorski Sports Complex, 8901 Collins Ave.

The event is free to attend; food and refreshments will be available. T-shirts will be available to purchase and there will be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds benefit the family of fallen Deptford Police Officer Bobby Shisler.

Remembering Those Who Gave The Ultimate Sacrifice

On Memorial Day, we come together as a community to honor and remember the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. In a special way, our District remembers those from Pennsauken who died during military conflicts as members of the United States Armed Forces, including: Terrence P. Allen, Thomas L. Busch, III, John S. DiBenedetto, Michael Egan, James M. Esposito, Matthew J. Henkel Jr., Joseph L. Hesson, III, Frank J. Kohlmyer, Thomas C Miller, Maria I. Ortiz, Richard Patterson, Elmer R. Pease, Jr., Anthony Piersanti, Jr., Harold Russo, and John Edward Tipton.

Senior Citizen Appreciation Day On June 8

Pennsauken Township is celebrating our great senior citizens with a special, FREE event!

Senior Citizen Appreciation Day will be held on Thursday, June 8, from noon to 4:00 p.m., at the Pennsauken Municipal Pool, 6100 River Rd. Pennsauken’s first responders will be grilling for the event and interacting with attendees, and members of Township Committee will be serving food to guests. Pennsauken seniors aged 62 and over will enjoy a variety of fun activities, including games and musical entertainment. Plus, the pool will be open, so attendees are encouraged to bring their bathing suits! Registration is required by Monday, June 5.

Memorial Day Events To Be Held Throughout Pennsauken

Community events leading up through Memorial Day remember those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

Wreath Laying Ceremonies

Several wreath laying ceremonies in observance of those members of the military who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces will be held throughout Memorial Day Weekend in both Pennsauken and Merchantville. The public is encouraged to attend these events.

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Festival Comes to Pennsauken

The Pennsauken Free Public Library is proud to be chosen as host of the third annual Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Festival. Sponsored by the Asian American Alliance in South Jersey, the festival, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, celebrates the rich culture heritage of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in South Jersey and the United States.

Pennsauken Church To Hold Food Pantry, Brunch For Mother’s Day

Church of the Risen King, located at 7512 Rt. 130 N. in Pennsauken, is hosting a food pantry and brunch in honor of Mother’s Day. The event will be held on Saturday, May 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
