Longtime Pennsauken resident Emery G. Saunders, Jr. teamed up with his bandmates as “Toe-Knee” and the 7th House for their second album, “The 7 Sins of Psychedelic Soul.”

The band describes their current musical effort as the “funky and soulful sounds of yesteryear with modern twist and flavor,” but this album is more than that, combining elements of soul funk with soft jazz, classic blues, spoken word, and rap. Each song tells a different story. There’s the meditative “Where Water Meets Sky;” a funk tribute with “B.G. Connection (The Esoteric Funk);” a tale of yesteryear with “7th House Blues;” the classically versatile “Got Funk? Suite in three parts;” and “In Guns We Trust,” a socio-political commentary that hits home personally with the artist.

There are a lot of great songs on this CD. Our only wish is that the album gets pressed on vinyl; it deserves that unique sound that only a turntable provides.
