A Statement From Pennsauken Mayor Vince Martinez and Township Committeewoman Jessica Rafeh On Governor Murphy’s “State of the State” Address

We would like to thank New Jersey State Senator Nilsa Cruz-Pérez for her special invitation to Governor Murphy’s “State of the State” address on Jan. 10. It is so important to have all of New Jersey’s residents represented in Trenton; you are a shining example to our state’s Hispanic community and a true public servant.

During his address, Governor Murphy spoke of his desire to make New Jersey stronger and more equitable. Pennsauken Township Committee supports any and all efforts to provide equal and fair opportunities for prosperity and growth for residents not only in our community, but throughout the state.

Echoing the Governor’s remarks, Pennsauken Township is also a strong proponent of creating opportunities for real economic growth in New Jersey. Major corporations, like Scrub Daddy, Velocity Venture Partners, and Puratos, have all made significant investments in our community; and we will continue to welcome companies both big and small to Pennsauken, growing and strengthening our business landscape.

We thank Governor Murphy and state officials for extending the deadline for residents to apply for the new Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program to February 28, 2023. Replacing the Homestead Rebate, we believe that the ANCHOR program will benefit many more of our residents, offering important property tax relief to both homeowners and renters. For more information and to learn how to submit your application, visit https://www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation/anchor/index.shtml.

Township Committee also applauds the state’s efforts to help curb gun violence and reduce car thefts throughout New Jersey. But it isn’t just left to legislators in Trenton. Our Pennsauken Township Police Department works diligently alongside our Public Safety Director, as well as with agencies like the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, to keep our residents safe.

In closing, Pennsauken Township Committee shares in Governor Murphy’s excitement for what 2023 holds for both the State of New Jersey, as well as our community. Committee will continue to work non-stop with our partners at the county, state, and federal levels, to further our mission to make Pennsauken Township a great place to work, live, and raise a family.
