Accordion Concert, Holiday Cookie Sales And More, Courtesy Of The Friends

By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library

A must-attend event to help everyone enter into the holiday spirit will be our accordion concert, compliments of the Westmont Accordion Club, on Thursday, Dec. 13, 7:00 p.m., in the Library’s Community Room. The ensemble is comprised of a dozen amateur musicians passionate about the accordion. They’ll play a variety of holiday selections, as well as Broadway show tunes and a few sing-a-longs.

One more can’t miss offering, just in time for holiday snacking, will be another of our famous holiday cookie sales on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or until we run out of cookies. Held in the Library’s lobby, each bag is $1; and we’ll be featuring a delectable assortment for you to choose from. Stop by early, though, so you get a better selection; and if you’re in the baking mood and want to donate some bags of your own recipes, we’d love to have them! Just let us know if there are any nuts involved so we can inform our customers. Also, if you belong to the Friends, show your membership card and you’ll get a free bag of your choice on us!

Tuesday, Dec. 18 marks our last munch and a movie get-together for 2018. Bring along your favorite munch; we’ll supply the snacks and beverages and, of course, the movie. Call ahead to the Circulation Desk if you absolutely can’t wait to know what movie we’ll be showing; otherwise, enjoy the surprise.

Our annual basket raffle went off without a hitch last month with the four winners: James O’Shaughnessy, Barbara Leonetti, Mike Folce, and Diane Parks, thrilled at their good luck. And as luck would have it, all four are resident of Pennsauken! Thank you to all of the local merchants, whose generosity with either merchandise, gift cards, passes, or money, allowed us to put together these terrific baskets: Amy’s Omelette House; Aunt Charlotte’s Candies; Bobby Ray’s Pennsauken Tavern; Carollo’s; Dr. John Dickey; Haines Farm and Garden Supply; National Museum of American Jewish History; Meadowbrook Food Center; Millennium Nails; Moore Brothers Wine Company; National Liberty Museum; Penn Florist; Pennsauken Country Club; Pinsetter Bar and Bowl; Sky Zone; The Pub; Wegmans Food Market; Allyson Zinmen; Arnold’s Safe & Lock Company; Carol Strazzullo; CNS Cleaning; Donna Wittenburg; Howie Electrical; Hugh O’Connell; Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home; Margee Miller; Paul Devery; Route 38 Chiropractic Center; Sir Speedy Printing; Stevens Management Associates; TheraSport Physical Therapy; Women’s Club of Merchantville; the Evening Membership Department of the Women’s Club; and an anonymous donor.

The Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season; and thank you for all your support throughout 2018. We honestly couldn’t do all we do without your help!
