Call Me Crispy Offers Fresh To Order Chicken, Fries

For several years, the Ahmad family successfully ran Express Shish Kabob on Haddonfield Rd., offering fresh fire grilled and authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. And while business was good, brothers Ahmad and Mohammed wanted to try something different.
“We had a concept that we really wanted to try, something no one is doing right now,” said Ahmad Ahmad.
The space is now rebranded as Call Me Crispy, a takeout restaurant that offers fresh to order, piping hot chicken and fries.
“Everything we do is by hand,” explained Ahmad. “It’s really good quality food that’s fresh and affordable. No one wants mediocre takeout. We wanted to create something everybody eats that’s also very affordable with good flavors.”
Call Me Crispy’s menu features variations of the standards. Buttermilk fried chicken tenders, as well as traditional and boneless wings, are paired with sauces including sweet chili, honey barbeque, mango habanero, and more. A nod to the southern style chicken sandwich, customers can enjoy several chicken sandwiches that are buttermilk fried, topped with coleslaw and a variety of condiments, and served on a toasted brioche bun. Sides include fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. There’s also a chicken n’ waffle, fried chicken tenders over a homemade waffle with hot honey syrup.
“We’re focusing on the flavors and the quality,” said Ahmad. “We’ve created a menu where you get fries and a drink with a great meal. No one can beat these prices for fresh.”
Fans of the previous concept will still see familiar faces, as parents Jack and Nora are still involved in the restaurant. They’re excited for their sons’ take on a bigger role and build on their dream with Call Me Crispy.
“Mohammed and I have wanted to try this for years,” said Ahmad. “It’s great that our parents are supporting us.” Call Me Crispy is located at 2673 Haddonfield Rd. in Pennsauken.
