If you had the chance to go to the Pennsauken Harvest Festival, then you may have seen this month’s latest hot topic, Dan’s Waffles, a food truck serving up some of the finest made-to-order bubble and Belgian sugar waffles.

Food Adventures: Merchantville Sweet Shop
By Rachael River, AAP Columnist,
In the 1880’s the very first ice cream sundae was born. Since then it has evolved in the best was to incorporate all types of new ingredients from gummy bears to gold flaking! I stopped in at the Merchantville Sweet Shop and sat down with the owners Larry Albright, whose family owned the Juniata Sweet Shop 30 years ago, and Ramon Garcia, a resident of Camden looking to move into Pennsauken, to talk about the new place and hear about some of their fun treats and future plans.
Food Adventures: It’s All Good Soul Food Comes To West Maple Avenue
By Rachael Rivera, AAP Columnist
This month’s food adventure takes me to It’s All Good Soul Food and Catering, located at 618 West Maple Ave. in Merchantville. This unassuming little shop front is home to some truly awesome soul food.
Demina Miller owns and operates the restaurant with the help of her daughters, Ajani and Asia, as well as other family and friends. She began cooking and learning her way around the kitchen at a young age by hanging out with her aunt and grandmother while her mother attended college. She is a self-taught food maverick who gained her skill out of necessity and found her niche in soul food.

Food Adventures: Eclipse Brewing Opens In Merchantville
By Rachael Rivera, AAP Columnist
Eclipse Brewing has recently joined the ranks in our local brewery selection in Pennsauken, Merchantville, and the surrounding areas. They just opened on Oct. 9; and being a craft brew fan myself, I had to explore this place. This “nano-brewery” really blew me away. I got there a little bit before they opened and got to see the hustle and bustle behind the scenes as the brew master began his work.
Food Adventures: Tastes Of Oktoberfest A Quick Drive Away
By Rachael Rivera, AAP Columnist
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer and fun festival and takes place in Germany from mid-September through early October. Imagine a carnival, circus, and holiday feast all in one!
Me being half German, I grew up eating just about everything featured at a traditional Oktoberfest feast. Bratwurst, knockwurst, schweinebraten (roasted pork), potato pancakes and my all-time favorite, cabbage rolls. In many cultures, the food you eat is a pillar of where you come from. It reminds you of your ancestry with every bite; and for people trying new foods, it gives them an insight on smells and sights from where the food originated. Traditional German food is no different.
