Community Rallies Around Family After Tragic Baseball Accident

By Frank Sinatra, AAP Editor

The local community is rallying support around a family whose son was critically injured during a tragic accident on the baseball field.

Xavier Taylor, a 12-year-old boy from Maple Shade, was on the baseball field when he was hit by an errant throw, according to TV news reports. He was airlifted to Cooper Hospital, where he is in the ICU.

A prayer vigil was held last night at the same ballfield where the incident occurred, with hundreds in attendance. Greg Taylor, a Pennsauken native and retired member of the Pennsauken Fire Department, shared a message of sincere thanks.

“There can be no words our family has of the outpouring of love, visitors, support, donations, thoughts, and prayers to our family over the last few days,” wrote Taylor in a Facebook post. “We believe and come into agreement that miracles do exist and a miracle will happen for our Xavier.”

A Meal Train has been set up for the family, and support from the community continues to pour in. With a goal of $2,500, the page has raised over $60,000 to assist the Taylors in their time of need.

We will continue to follow this story, and share any updates as they are made available. We hope to report a miracle.
