Family Raises Funds For Funeral Expenses Of Hit-And-Run Victim

The family of a Pennsauken woman who tragically died during a hit-and-run on Westfield Ave. has created a GoFundMe campaign to pay for her funeral expenses.

Mayra Polanco, 47 of Pennsauken, was crossing the 6300 block of Westfield Ave. on Friday, Dec. 17, at 5:20 p.m., when she was struck by vehicle traveling southbound. She was transported to Cooper Hospital in critical condition, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

“She leaves behind a 14 year old son and we are trying to raise funds for a small funeral here and to send her home to Guatemala with her husband,” wrote Kat Darlington Ruano, the organizer of the fundraiser.
