First Ever Nature Enthusiast Day Held On May 12
Pennsauken’s first Nature Enthusiast Day will be held on Saturday, May 12, 10:00 a.m. to noon, at Tippin’s Pond, 421 Cove Rd. Sponsored by Pennsauken Township’s Department of Parks and Recreation, Pennsauken Township Environmental Commission, and Pennsauken Nature Enthusiasts, the event, open to children ages 7-13, is an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors through a variety of fun activities.
“We hope that many of our families come out to have some fun by one of Pennsauken’s great natural features: Tippin’s Pond,” say Elwood Martz, Pennsauken Township Parks and Recreation. “A big thank you goes out to Stephanie Laurick for providing a good deal of support for this event.”
Several activities are planned for Nature Enthusiast Day: a fun, nature-focused scavenger hunt; fishing contest (participants must bring their own fishing pole and bait); and flower planting. Attendees are asked to dress appropriately for being outside in the woods.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required, as space is limited for participants. Registration forms can be downloaded at the Township website, twp.pennsauken.nj.us, or by visiting “Pennsauken Nature Enthusiasts” on Facebook.
