Friends Of The Library Holds Bake Sale On February 9

By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library

Prepare to indulge your sweet tooth at our upcoming bake sale on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Library lobby. We’ll get started at 11:00 a.m. and go until 3:00 p.m., or until we run out of goodies, whichever comes first. You probably noticed that this is a bake sale, not simply a cookie sale, as we’ve held over the last year or so. So many people asked for brownies or cakes or nut breads at our previous “cookie” sales that it only made sense for us to offer whatever treats our creative bakers decide to bring us. So come early to get the best selection!

“Munch And A Movie” Held On February 19

Our popular, ever-interesting and fun-filled “Munch and a Movie” happens on Tuesday, Feb.19, from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room. It’s a great way to share lunchtime with some friends and enjoy not only the snacks and beverages the Friends will supply, but also a great movie. So bring yourself and whoever you’d like to invite and meet us for a few hours of relaxation.

Museum Pass Program At The Library

We hope you looked into the museum passes we mentioned in last month’s column and have mapped out a plan for utilizing them now and as the weather warms up, although there are plenty of indoor sites to keep you out of the elements, too. You’ll be able to learn more about the museum pass program if you visit pennsaukenlibrary.org. Just make sure you’re a library member beforehand or plan on getting a membership now if you aren’t already. You can’t check out the passes without one!

Upcoming Events

Here’s a heads-up for those of you marking your calendar in advance. We’ll be holding four Friday afternoon chair yoga sessions beginning on March 1 at 1:00 p.m., and four Tuesday evening adult regular yoga sessions beginning on March 5 at 6:30 p.m., for those of you who prefer a somewhat more strenuous workout. The complete schedule will be forthcoming next month. Flyers for our annual art show and sale in April will be available in the library lobby and at the circulation desk beginning this month. We’ll be looking for entries to be displayed, so maybe it’s time to start working on a project you’ll be proud to share. You’ll find flyers and entry forms for our annual poetry contest at the lobby and circulation desks as well. We’ll be honoring our poetry winners on May 22. And finally, details are coming together for a unique spring fundraiser you won’t want to miss.

Our next Friends of the Library business meeting takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 7:00 p.m., so join us and let us hear your ideas for new and exciting events. We’ll save you a seat!
