The Pennsauken Lions Club will be holding their 25th annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 7, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Macaro’s catering hall on Westfield Ave. Menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, make your own omelet station, OJ, coffee, tea, and milk. New this year: the Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures with the children who attend. Bring your own camera. Besides the bunny, there will also be a basket raffle. The tickets for breakfast are $10. Raffle tickets are $5 for three or $10 for 25.
Date Changes For Lions Events
The Club’s membership open house has been rescheduled to Monday, May 20. The Lions hope this change did not inconvenience anyone and that it gives everyone more time to plan to attend. It will be held at the home of Lion Sharon Rush, owner of Macaro’s on Westfield Ave. The dinner is free to anyone interested in finding out more about the Lions.
The spring cigar fundraiser has been postponed until Monday, May 6. It will still be held at Steak 38 Café on Rt. 38 in Cherry Hill. The cost is $65 per person and includes appetizers, dinner, dessert and two premium cigars. There will also be a cash bar.
New Assistance Application
Over the past few years, the Lions have received requests from residents within Pennsauken looking for assistance with oil heat, school trips, hearing aids, as well as glasses, eye exams, and specialty eye surgery.
The Lions established a committee to work with Pennsauken Neighbors Helping Neighbors and other service organizations to develop an application form which will help determine how to best service these various requests. The application form is available by contacting pennsaukenlionsclub@comcast.net. Once the request is received, the Club will meet to discuss. Since the Lions meet every two weeks, the Club has a special committee to meet about emergency requests or if an immediate response is needed. The application does need to filled out for all requests, regardless of whether or not the need is urgent.
