Earlier today, McFarlan’s Market in Merchantville announced via social media that the store will be closing later this month.
“We will be closing the Merchantville location on December 14, 2019, while we continue to search for a buyer. Please know we did not take making this decision lightly,” according to a statement made on the store’s Facebook page. “We will VERY much miss our Merchantville family and the friends we’ve made over the last 9 years. You all made this a very special chapter in our lives that we will never forget.”
Owned and run by locals Pete Burgess and Janet Stevens, McFarlan’s was known for stocking a vast array of specialty groceries, coffee, tea, fine meats, seasonal produce and deli selections. The Merchantville store opened in 2010; a Collingswood location was launched in 2018, only to close a year later.
“Whether you came through our doors for groceries, a cup of coffee, a recipe, or just to chat we THANK YOU,” added Janet, Pete, and the McFarlan’s team. “It’s been an amazing experience and a pleasure serving you!”
