Township, Library, Schools On Holiday Schedule For New Year’s 2020

The Pennsauken Free Public Library is closed on Tuesday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve and will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.

Pennsauken Township’s administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.

Both will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, for normal business operations.

The Pennsauken School District will also resume classes on Thursday, Jan.2, with a regular class schedule.

New Year’s Day Holiday Trash Schedule
Pennsauken’s Department of Public Works reminds residents that New Year’s Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1, is a trash holiday. Wednesday’s yard waste and white goods collection will be on Thursday, Jan. 2. Thursday’s trash and recycling collection will be on Friday, Jan. 3. Friday’s trash and recycling pickup will be on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Township Government, School District On Holiday Schedule

Pennsauken Township‘s Municipal Building has closed early today, Tuesday, Dec. 24, and will be closed on both Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Dec. 26 for Christmas. The offices will reopen with regular business hours on Friday, Dec. 27.

The Pennsauken Free Public Library is closed both today, Tuesday, Dec. 24, and tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Library will reopen for normal business operations on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Christmas Day, Wedesday, Dec. 25, is a “trash holiday.” Wednesday’s yard waste and white goods collection will occur on Thursday, Dec. 26. Thursday’s trash and recycling pick up will occur on Friday, Dec. 27. Friday’s collection will occur on Saturday, Dec. 28.

Pennsauken Public Schools are currently on Winter Break. Classes resume on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Pennsauken’s Parade Of Lights Is Cancelled

The rain forecast for later today has caused Pennsauken Township to cancel it’s annual Parade of Lights, originally scheduled for this evening. There is no rain date for the event.

The Twelve Days Of Christmas Plants

Christmas trees, evergreen boughs, poinsettias, and Christmas cactus are the plants of the season, livening our homes with wonderful fragrance and pops of color. Of these, the Christmas cactus can be the longest-lived, providing a greater bounty of flowers with each successive year. Some people have a green thumb getting these cacti to grow and thrive, but all too many of these plants that are either received as gifts or purchased for their cheerful seasonal color, languish and eventually die.

PHS National Honor Society Collecting Toys For CHOP

Pennsauken High School’s National Honor Society is collecting toys for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia through Friday, Dec. 13, and is asking the local community for their help with a final push of donations.

Pennsauken School District And Food Bank Host Monthly Food Distribution

The Pennsauken School District, in partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey, has started a monthly food distribution, held on the first Saturday of the month throughout the school year.

Each food distribution is held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd. This is for families in Pennsauken who need additional food resources. There is no cost and all are welcome.
