Middle School Student Passes Away

By Frank Sinatra, AAP Editor

This evening, Pennsauken School District Superintendent Dr. Ronnie Tarchichi announced that a student who attended Phifer Middle School passed away earlier this week.

“One of our middle school students has tragically passed away on Monday, March 28th,” wrote Dr. Tarchichi in a letter to school families. “Our sincere condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to the family and friends of our student. During this time as the school community processes the tragic news and copes with grief, Pennsauken Public Schools will offer counseling and bereavement support services to all of our students and staff.”

To help students process their feelings during this time, Dr. Tarchichi encouraged parents/guardians to speak with their children, as well as closely monitor their communications via their phones and social media accounts. He also recommended that they could contact the Phifer Middle School’s Counseling Office (856-662-8511) for guidance on how to handle and talk about any grief or concerns that your children may be experiencing.

“We all have a role in keeping our students within our community safe and happy,” wrote Dr. Tarchichi. “The emotional wellness of our children should be a top priority for us as parents, guardians, and educators.”
