Obituary: Denis Collopy, Pennsauken Native
Pennsauken native Denis Collopy passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2017, after a brief illness. He was 43.
Denis was the devoted and adoring son of Dennis and Kathleen (Wells); loving husband of Elizabeth (Mattioni) and father of Andrew; brother of Amy (Reid) and Katie; brother-in-law of Jeffrey Reid; uncle of Sydney and Jacob Reid; and loving grandson of Dorothy Amos.
Denis attended Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic School, Camden Catholic High School, and was a graduate of Rutgers University. A die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, Denis had a particular love of baseball, which he shared with Andrew. Dedicated to his family, Denis would visit his parents in Pennsauken and cheer on his niece and nephew on the soccer field. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A remembrance of Denis’ life will be held Wednesday June 21 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Kirk & Nice Funeral Home, 80 Stenton Ave., Plymouth Meeting, Pa 19462. A service will be held Thursday, June 22, 11:00 a.m. at Chestnut Hill Presbyterian Church, 8855 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia Pa 19118. A memorial mass will be held July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 43 W. Maple Ave., Merchantville, N.J. 08109.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter Roman Catholic School (address above) in Denis’ name.
