Longtime Pennsauken resident Larry Painter passed away on May 29, 2021. He was 86 years old.
Larry was the beloved husband of Trudy (nee McCann); devoted father of Lisa McGilloway (Michael) and Stephen Painter (Bonnie); loving grandfather of Michael, Matthew, McCann, Daniel and Samara; dear brother of Eleanor Wilbur, Sharon Smith (Larry) and the late Ruth Smith, Florence Capri, Nancy Horner, Harvey Painter and Jane Scarano; and brother in law of Linda Lewis (Ken). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Prior to his retirement, Larry worked as a senior office assistant for PSE&G, retiring after over 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran and a recipient of the Camden County Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Medal. Larry was a 2009 inductee in the Riverside High School Sports Hall of Fame, where he played basketball, baseball and football.
Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council 3512 for 34 years where he served as Grand Knight and on many committees. He also was a member of the Bishop Eustace Assembly where he served as Trustee and was a member of the Color Corp. He was honored with the following awards. Knight of the Year, Sir Knight of the Year and Color Corpman of the Year.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Wednesday, June 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Mary, Queen of All Saints, 4801 Camden Avenue in Pennsauken. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
