Pennsauken Police Department Announces Arrest In Arson Case

This afternoon, the Pennsauken Township Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect connected to an arson case last month.

Tyrone Wilson, age 28 of Camden City, was located today by members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Pennsauken Police Patrol Division. He was arrested without incident and charged with Aggravated Arson, Arson, Causing Widespread Injury or Damage, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault to a Domestic Violence Victim, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Explosives) and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Destructive Devices).

On Jan. 25, Pennsauken Police and the Pennsauken Fire Department responded to Penn Garden Apartments for what was reported to be a fire. While there was no active fire, it was discovered that an unknown subject had used some type of small explosive on a door to an occupied apartment. An investigation was started by the Pennsauken Police Detective Division and the Pennsauken Fire Marshal’s Office. Due to the nature of the device used, the Camden County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was also notified and responded to the scene. No one was injured during the incident.

Through their investigation, Pennsauken Police discovered that this was part of a domestic violence incident and that Wilson was charged for his involvement. Due to the nature of the charges and the device used, a search warrant for his last known address was applied for and approved by a Superior Court Judge. During the search warrant, which was conducted by Pennsauken Police Detectives, Camden County Sheriff’s Department SERT, Camden County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad, and the Camden County Police Department, another device was located. However, Wilson was not on location.

Wilson is considered innocent of all charges until proven guilty in court.
