REACH Event On March 18 Gives Parents, Students And Teachers An Opportunity To Learn And Create

By Francine Eisenmann, REACH Coordinator

Regional Enrichment Activities for Children with High Abilities (REACH) began a number of years ago to give parents, students, and teachers throughout our state the opportunity to get together to network, learn, and create.

A half-day of stimulating, creative, hands on activities, workshops, related vendor interactions, and comraderie among parents, students, and teachers, attending a REACH event is beneficial for all who attend. It gives families and educators a local venue, to gain insight into gifted education, as well as having fun.

The next REACH event will be held on Saturday, March 18 at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd, Pennsauken, N.J. Doors open for registration at 8:30 a.m. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. through noon.

The adult keynote session will feature seasoned gifted presenters: Roberta Braverman and Elaine Mendelow, speaking about “How to Fuel the Fire Within Your Child/Student to Create Eager Learners.” While the adults are in the first session, students will be rotating through “Challenge Stations” with their teammates, to peak their curiosity and strengthen problem solving skills.

After a snack and vendor break, everyone will be in for a treat with our second keynote, world renowned research naturalist, Brent J. Nixon, CEO and president of Nature Talks. You won’t want to miss this high energy and engaging presentation.

“When children get to meet the scientists that are doing the work in the field, and learn from them through engaging interactive presentations, that science becomes interesting and fun for them,” explains Nixon.

The REACH event will culminate with presenting the annual art and writing contest awards, as well as giving away some incredible door prizes. We hope to see all parents, students, and teachers, who are looking for a stimulating morning that you will be talking about for months!
