Pennsauken Resident To Receive DVLF HEROES Award
On April 29, Pennsauken resident Jerome Pipes will receive the 2018 HEROES award in the non-profit category from the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund.
Jerome T. Pipes works as The Team Lead Care and Treatment Adherence Psychosocial Service Coordinator at Camden Area Health Education Center-AHEC. Pipes helps lead the efforts to provide HIV testing, counseling, harm reduction, needle exchange, and more. He has been active in AIDS awareness events, Black Lives Matter, healthcare reform, and many other grassroots movements and issues. He has previously been recognized by the Nonprofit Development Center of Southern New Jersey and the Camden County Board of Elected Freeholders for – among other things – his advocacy for underserved communities.
Pennsauken’s Bell A 2016 LOFT Video Game Innovation Fellow
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) announced 15-year-old, Pennsauken resident Calvin Bell as a 2016 LOFT Video Game Innovation Fellow. The Fellows, who are minorities age 15-25, were selected for the original video games and apps they developed to address social issues in their communities. Bell presented his ideas to the White House, U.S. Congress, and national community leaders on Thursday, Nov. 17, and Friday, Nov. 18.
Pennsauken’s McFarland Receives Life Achievement Award From Boy Scouts

Mary Anne McFarland, a lifelong Pennsauken resident, has received the Life Achievement Award from the White Horse District of the Boy Scouts of America, which serves all of Camden County, NJ, as well as its 37 municipalities.
PHS Indoor Guard Recognized For Atlantic Coast Championship

At the June public meeting for Pennsauken’s Township Committee, Mayor Rick Taylor recognized Pennsauken High School’s Indoor Guard with a proclamation for winning the Tournament Indoor Association (TIA) Atlantic Coast Championship, held at the Wildwood Convention Center in early May.
