Camden County Holds Senior Citizen Legal Workshops

Hello fellow seniors.
The Camden County Board of Freeholders, the Department of Health and Human Services – Division of Senior and Disabled Services, and the Surrogate’s Office announce free legal workshops for senior and disabled residents of Camden County. Those attending these workshops receive, at no cost, a last will and testament, an advance directive for health care (living will) and power of attorney (POA).
PSE&G To Begin Roadway Restoration In Pennsauken Township
Camden County Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo has been notified that Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) has finished upgrading a portion of its aging gas lines in Pennsauken Township. Now that the ground has settled, crews will be paving roads from May 25 through June 2, weather permitting.
Police will be directing traffic around work areas, and residents will be able to drive on the roads once paving is complete. Homeowners will have access to their driveways at all times.
Regattas Return To Cooper River This Spring
One of the county’s largest economic engines is currently finalizing an underwater makeover that will attract some of the largest national rowing events in the country. With the return of competition in 2017 more than 12 regattas have already been scheduled on the Cooper River for the upcoming rowing season. While the remainder of the spoils are transported offsite, and grading and landscaping begin, the dredge is officially out of the water and recreational and competitive rowing can commence.
Camden County Launches Smart911 Technology
The Freeholder Board has launched Smart911 in Camden County to save critical time in emergency situations and encourages county residents to register with the program. Smart911 is a free nationwide service that allows users to create a Smart911 Safety Profile, which provides vital information to emergency dispatchers and first responders during an emergency. Camden County is the first in the state to introduce the technology.
Cooper River Park Ice Rink To Open On November 25
The Freeholder Board is bringing the Winterfest Ice Skating Rink back to Cooper River Park this year to provide family fun from Nov. 25 to Feb. 14. The celebration kicks off at 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 25 with carolers and a tree lighting.

Senior Health Fair To Be Held In Pennsauken On September 28

Hello fellow seniors. The annual Senior Citizen Health Awareness Fair will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Jack Curtis Stadium in Cooper River Park, rain or shine. By showing your Medicare card, Camden County residents can receive a seasonal flu shot for free. In addition, the fair features health information tables, games, and prizes. Health screenings will be provided for issues such as blood pressure, cholesterol, vision, and diabetes. There will also be information about prescription/insurance programs, medical equipment, financial/consumer information, and social service programs.
Roots Of Camden County Hero Scholarship In Pennsauken

In 1965, a group of like-minded public safety members from around Camden County looked to find a way to provide financial support to families and more specifically, the children of fire, police, and EMS personnel following the loss of life in the line of duty. Led by the process already in place in the City of Philadelphia at that time, the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund was formalized in 1966.
Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund Announces 2016 Scholarship Program
The Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund recently announced the launch of its 2016 scholarship program. Six $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who have a parent actively serving Camden County, or they themselves serve Camden County in a public safety capacity. Two awards will be presented in each field of service: law enforcement, fire, and EMS.
