Pennsauken’s Excited As Schools Open

The first day of school is around the corner, and we have a lot to celebrate and look forward to for the 2016-17 school year. On Sept. 6, students will be welcomed back to our schools, have new classrooms and new outstanding teachers, and will start making new friends.
Living Faith Christian Center to Host Community Event Where Everything is Free
Living Faith Christian Center (LFCC), located at 2323 Route 73 in Pennsauken, invites residents to leave their money at home on Saturday, Aug. 20 for their annual, “What’s Mine Is Yours: Caring Is Sharing,” themed event, where everything is free.
Fire Department Hosts Open House During National Night Out
The Pennsauken Fire Department will open all of its fire stations to the public during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 2, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
PASA Holds Planning Meeting July 19
The Pennsauken Alliance on Substance Abuse (PASA) is holding a planning meeting on Tuesday, July 19, 7:00 p.m. at the PYAA Field House, located 3501 Elm Ave. This local organization is comprised of local volunteers who help disperse state grant money to combat drug and alcohol misuse and abuse in the Pennsauken community.
Pennsauken Holds First-Ever Food Truck Event
Pennsauken’s Bite Night is the Township’s first-ever food truck event. Scheduled for both Thursday, Aug. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 15, the event, which runs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Township Municipal Complex, 5605 N. Crescent Blvd., will feature a variety of mobile food purveyors.
Over a dozen food trucks are slated to attend both Bite Nights, including Bro Ritos, Cooper River Lunch and Munch, and Beast of the Street.

Christmas In July Luau Supports Angel Tree Program
The Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Christmas in July Luau on Thursday, July 28, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Inglesby and Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Rd. For a $20 donation, participants will enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment.
Proceeds from the luau benefits Pennsauken’s Angel Tree program, which collects new, unwrapped toys for families in need. Last year, over 30 Pennsauken families were helped during the holidays thanks to donations to the Angel Tree.

Due to inclement weather, the Merchantville Mutt Strutt has be moved to the rain date of Sunday, June 12.
The Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce (P.M.A.C.) hosts the second annual Merchantville Mutt Strutt on Sunday, June 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. along Centre St. and Chestnut Ave. in Merchantville.
