Friends Of The Library Bake Sale On February 3
By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library
What’re you doing Saturday, Feb. 3? Well, we’ll be holding another of our famous bake sales in the Pennsauken Free Public Library lobby prior to Valentine’s Day, so you can stock up on sweets for your sweet. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cakes, and pies filled our tables at the last sale and made a lot of visitors to the library very happy. And don’t forget that if you’re a member of the Friends of the Library, you’ll get a freebie when you show your membership card. The sale starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m., or earlier if we run out of baked goods.

PHSAA Holds Virtual Basket Auction For Scholarships
This time last year, the Pennsauken High School Alumni Association (PHSAA) was planning a bowling and basket auction event to raise funds for scholarships for Pennsauken High School graduating seniors. As with so many other events, the fundraiser was postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With donations already in hand and no end in sight to be able to safely hold a large event in person, PHSAA decided to revive the event, but hold it virtually. They have booked an online, virtual basket auction event through 32auctions.com. The PHSAA Bowling for Scholarships event is now PHSAA Bidding for Scholarships!
Christmas In July Luau Benefits Worthy Causes
The Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Christmas in July Luau on Thursday, July 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Inglesby and Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Rd. For a $20 donation, participants will enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment.
A portion of the proceeds from the luau benefits Pennsauken’s Angel Tree program, which collects new, unwrapped toys for families in need. Last year, a record number of Pennsauken families were helped during the holidays thanks to generous community and business donations.
Also this year, the Luau will use part of the proceeds to help the Tony Chaplain Life Line Ministry. The Ministry provides compassionate support for first responders and their families, by helping them cope with crises they face, resulting in a positive impact on their lives and their community.
Attendees are asked to R.S.V.P. to Nancy Ellis at (856) 438-0833 or pmac1team@gmail.com.
