Food Adventures: It’s All Good Soul Food Comes To West Maple Avenue
By Rachael Rivera, AAP Columnist
This month’s food adventure takes me to It’s All Good Soul Food and Catering, located at 618 West Maple Ave. in Merchantville. This unassuming little shop front is home to some truly awesome soul food.
Demina Miller owns and operates the restaurant with the help of her daughters, Ajani and Asia, as well as other family and friends. She began cooking and learning her way around the kitchen at a young age by hanging out with her aunt and grandmother while her mother attended college. She is a self-taught food maverick who gained her skill out of necessity and found her niche in soul food.
Clip Joint Holds Grand Reopening Event On April 1
The Clip Joint has been serving local families for countless decades. With the passing of owner and community staple Al Segrest last October, it was the decision of his family to continue the tradition of the “best little hair house” in Merchantville. That goal comes to fruition on Saturday with a special event on what would have been Al’s 69 birthday.
The iconic business is being staffed by Al’s daughtes, Alexis and his ex-wife, Monica. And after a brief period of renovation, The Clip Joint is holding a grand reopening on Saturday, April 1. Held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., all haircuts will be discounted at $10 a piece; free mini panzarottis and soft pretzels will be offered while supplies last; and there will be coupons, giveaways and more.
The Clip Joint is located at 107 South Centre St. in Merchantville. For more information, visit The Clip Joint’s Facebook page.

Food Adventures: Eclipse Brewing Opens In Merchantville
By Rachael Rivera, AAP Columnist
Eclipse Brewing has recently joined the ranks in our local brewery selection in Pennsauken, Merchantville, and the surrounding areas. They just opened on Oct. 9; and being a craft brew fan myself, I had to explore this place. This “nano-brewery” really blew me away. I got there a little bit before they opened and got to see the hustle and bustle behind the scenes as the brew master began his work.
Remembering Al Segrest, Owner Of Clip Joint
The sign on the door says, “Death in the family.” They have no idea how right they are.
Al Segrest, iconic owner of The Clip Joint in Merchantville, passed away suddenly last night. He was 68 years old. It’s a shock to many of us who frequented his shop for years.

Food Adventures: Rita Marie’s Eatery And Pizzeria
By Rachael Rivera, AAP Columnist
This month’s adventuring led me to Rita Marie’s Eatery and Pizzeria at 134 East Park Ave. in Merchantville. This corner foodie hotspot is clean and the staff there is fantastic. I walked in on the day I was to interview them; there were customers at their tables eating and watching the big flat screen in their dining area, some were in line paying for their food, while others perused the menu and boards for their next tasty selection.
