National Night Out Canceled Due To Anticipated Storms

Because of the storms anticipated tomorrow, Pennsauken’s first responders have made the decision to cancel the events scheduled for National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 6.
“Due to the thunderstorms forecasted, we have decided to cancel National Night Out 2024,” wrote Pennsauken Police Chief Philip Olivo in a social media post earlier today. “Safety is our top priority, and unfortunately due to the weather forecast, it is best to cancel the event. We look forward seeing the members of our community at the rest of our community policing events throughout the year.”

Pennsauken’s first responders are holding a special event during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 2, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
Held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, 3730 Westfield Ave., Pennsauken’s police officers, firefighters, and EMTs are joining forces to present a variety of displays and activities, specialized unit demonstrations, and more.
“National Night Out is all about building and reinforcing the relationship between public safety and the residents we serve,” explained Pennsauken Police Chief Phil Olivo. “This year, we expect to provide another great experience for the members of our community.”
According to the National Night Out website, NATW.org, “Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.”

The Pennsauken Fire Department will open all of its fire stations to the public during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 7, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
National Night Out 2017 In Pennsauken
The Pennsauken Fire Department will open all of its fire stations to the public during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 1, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
From 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Pennsauken’s fire stations will host a variety of activities, including apparatus displays, specialized unit demonstrations, ambulance displays, giveaways and more. Free bottled water, water ice and soft pretzels will be given out while supplies last. Members of the public can also pick up information on fire prevention and volunteer membership.
In addition, officers from the Pennsauken Police Department and members from Pennsauken Town Watch and the Pennsauken Alliance on Substance Abuse (PASA) will be at select locations.
The National Night Out open houses will be at:
- Fire Station 1, 8362 Stockton Ave.
- Fire Station 2, 2215 Merchantville Ave. (featuring Town Watch and PASA)
- Fire Station 3, 5301 Lexington Ave.
- Fire Station 5, 511 Union Ave.
Fire Department Helps To Build Stronger Community During National Night Out

Pennsauken’s Fire Department opened their doors to the public on Aug. 2 to celebrate National Night Out. Firefighters demonstrated the equipment they use every day to keep Pennsauken’s residents safe. Younger township residents even got hands-on experience with the equipment, trying on gear, operating hoses, and watching rescue equipment in action. There was also plenty of ice cream and soft pretzels for everyone.
