New Jersey Transit Police To Conduct Emergency Response Drill At River Line 36th Street Station

The New Jersey Transit Police Department’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), together with federal and local partners, will conduct a training exercise on Saturday, September 8th at the River LINE Light Rail 36th St. station beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Mosquito Spraying Continues In Pennsauken Thursday, 9/6

The Camden County Mosquito Commission regularly checks several thousand suspected mosquito breeding sites across the county. Spraying is scheduled on an as needed basis based upon the results of their surveillance efforts.

“It is important that you regularly check your yard for the presence of standing water,” said Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Mosquito Commission. “Removing standing water where mosquitoes can thrive will protect your family from the pests, and will assist the efforts of the Camden County Mosquito Control Commission.”

Capital Improvements Underway For Pennsauken School District

Work is currently underway to change the face of Pennsauken Public Schools. In March 2018, Pennsauken residents overwhelmingly passed an almost $36 million bond referendum, proposed by the Pennsauken School District to make significant capital improvements to every public school in the Township. In the months that followed the vote, District officials have been hard at work to move several of the referendum projects, as well as several other initiatives, forward.

Third Quarter Taxes Have Extended, Interest-Free Grace Period

The Pennsauken Township Tax Office has announced that the third quarter taxes initially due last month have an extended, interest-free grace period through Tuesday, Sept. 11. All payments received after the grace period ends will be charged interest retroactively to the due date, Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Annual Labor Day Wreath Laying Ceremony Held August 31

Labor leaders, public officials and members of the local business community will be on hand Aug. 31 for a wreath laying ceremony at the Peter J. McGuire Memorial, located at Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken.

Labor leaders, public officials and members of the local community will gather in Pennsauken on Friday, Aug. 31 to celebrate workers across our country at the annual AFL-CIO wreath-laying ceremony. This annual event has been held for over 120 years at the Peter J. McGuire Memorial, located at Arlington Cemetery, 1620 Cove Rd., Pennsauken, where the labor leader and “Father of Labor Day” is interred. The ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m.

Saint Cecilia’s Little Angels Receives New Playground Through Generous Donation

Last week, representatives from P.J. Whelihan’s Restaurant Group, staff from Saint Cecilia’s Little Angels, and parish officials were joined by members of Pennsauken Township Committee for the ribbon cutting of a brand new playground at the preschool and daycare center located on Camden Ave.

First Four Graduating Classes Of PHS To Hold Joint Reunion

The first four graduating classes of Pennsauken High School (1962-1965) are holding a joint reunion. This year’s event celebrates the 55th anniversary of the Class of ’63, whose members comprised the first class to be  educated all four years in the new Pennsauken High School.

A DJ dinner-dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m., at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 2349 W. Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, N.J. Tickets are $75.
