First Four Graduating Classes Of PHS To Hold Joint Reunion

The first four graduating classes of Pennsauken High School (1962-1965) are holding a joint reunion. This year’s event celebrates the 55th anniversary of the Class of ’63, whose members comprised the first class to be  educated all four years in the new Pennsauken High School.

A DJ dinner-dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m., at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 2349 W. Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, N.J. Tickets are $75. Interested class members, or those with contact information for class members who graduated from 1962 to 1965, should call Larry Litwin at (856) 424-5563.

On a hot and sultry evening in June, Pennsauken High School’s Class of 2018 marched into BB&T Pavilion – and history – as the school’s 56th graduating class. Much has changed since 1962, when the first class received its high school diploma, but the enthusiasm and joy for this very special night remained the same.

Pennsauken High School Performs “Pippin” For Spring Musical

Pennsauken High School invites the local community to their performances of “Pippin,” held March 15-18. The musical, which originally ran on Broadway in 1972 and enjoyed a revival in 2013, offers the audience the fictional tale of the young prince, Pippin, as told by a costumed performance troupe. 

PHS Teachers Recognized By Freedoms Foundation At Valley Forge

Lynda Shanahan and Carolyn Schultz, special needs teachers at Pennsauken High School, are being recognized by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, a nonpartisan educational institution that teaches about American rights and responsibilities, honors acts of civic virtue, and challenges all to get involved.

A donor match drive to help battle life-threatening blood cancers and other diseases will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd.

Pennsauken Board Of Education Recognizes High School Students

The Pennsauken Board of Education recently recognized Pennsauken High School seniors Daniel Ball and Tuong Tran as students of the month.

The Pennsauken Board of Education recently recognized Pennsauken High School seniors Daniel Ball, seen here with his parents as well as Dr. Tarchichi, superintendent of schools; and Tuong Tran as students of the month.

Daniel’s GPA is 4.31. He is a member of the Latin Club, Latin Honor Society, Marching Band, Indoor Drum line, and National Honor Society. Daniel volunteers at the Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, and the Saint Joseph’s House casserole program. Ball plans to attend Rowan University and major in Biomedical Engineering.

Tuong’s GPA is 4.20. She is member of the French National Honor Society and the Renaissance Club. Tuong is an honor roll student and her favorite subjects are Chemistry and Calculus. Tuong is considering Rutgers University Camden and is undecided on a major.

State Senate President Sweeney Visits Pennsauken High School

On Feb. 7, New Jersey Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney toured Pennsauken High School and sat down to talk with students. During his visit, Sweeney, who grew up in Pennsauken and went to school at PHS, spoke of the importance of supporting initiatives that fairly fund education throughout the state.

Pull out your leg warmers, dust off your Vans from the back of the closet, and get ready to spike your hair or shake up that old can of AquaNet. The Eighties come back to town as Pennsauken High School performs “The Wedding Singer” this month.
