Woman Charged For Pennsauken Bank Robbery

Tanya Barie, 33, of Glenolden, Pennsylvania, was charged in connection to a bank robbery that occurred on October 20, 2017 thanks to tips from the community.

Detectives Seeking Assistance In Identifying Vehicle

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Pennsauken Township Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle.

The vehicle shown below was possibly used during a home invasion that occurred at approximately 2:24 p.m. on October 3, 2017 on the 7500 block of Baxter Avenue in Pennsauken Township.

The suspects who entered the home are described as Hispanic males, wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black pants. The driver of the vehicle was described as a white or Hispanic male with a heavy build and a beard.

Members of the public should not approach the vehicle or attempt to apprehend these suspects, but should call 9-1-1 immediately.

Two Charged In Pennsauken Shooting

Danny Smith, 44, of Woodlynne and Damian Sanchez, 29, of Camden were both charged for shooting and killing 26-year-old Jerry Mass during an armed robbery.

Witnesses stated that Damian Sanchez and another individual entered Jerry Mass’ apartment on the 7000 block of Stockton Avenue, Pennsauken, while Danny Smith stood outside the common doorway. The victim was shot while the two men attempted to rob him, then fled out of the apartment and into a vehicle that was driven by Mr. Smith.

Camden County Freeholders Announce Mobile Prescription Drug Drop Boxes

The Freeholder Board, local law enforcement and healthcare providers announced a new effort to increase public use and visibility of prescription drug drop boxes to combat the opioid crisis. The Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force made it a point to install standard drop boxes located in police departments throughout the county in 2015. Now, new, mobile drop boxes located in county vehicles will begin to be deployed to events throughout the county this year.

National Night Out 2017 In Pennsauken

The Pennsauken Fire Department will open all of its fire stations to the public during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 1, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.

From 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Pennsauken’s fire stations will host a variety of activities, including apparatus displays, specialized unit demonstrations, ambulance displays, giveaways and more. Free bottled water, water ice and soft pretzels will be given out while supplies last. Members of the public can also pick up information on fire prevention and volunteer membership.

In addition, officers from the Pennsauken Police Department and members from Pennsauken Town Watch and the Pennsauken Alliance on Substance Abuse (PASA) will be at select locations.

The National Night Out open houses will be at:

  • Fire Station 1, 8362 Stockton Ave.
  • Fire Station 2, 2215 Merchantville Ave. (featuring Town Watch and PASA)
  • Fire Station 3, 5301 Lexington Ave.
  • Fire Station 5, 511 Union Ave.

PASA, Town Watch Hold Meetings Tonight

The Pennsauken community is encouraged to join the Pennsauken Alliance on Substance Abuse (PASA), as they work to educate the community about ways to stop abuse of drugs,alcohol, and tobacco.

The group’s next meeting is Wednesday, July 12, 7:00 p.m., at Temple Lutheran Church, 5600 Rt. 130.

To help residents reduce their risk of being the target of a crime during warmer weather, Pennsauken Township and the Pennsauken Township Police Department offer a variety of simple, yet effective tips.

Special Presentation And Panel Tackled The Issue Of Opioids And Heroin Abuse

A special presentation last month at Camden Catholic High School drew attention to the serious issue of prescription opioids and heroin abuse. The free program and forum was sponsored by the Diocese of Camden, Discovery Ministries, Inc., and Catholic Charities, and had the support of numerous local groups, including Pennsauken Township’s municipal government, the Pennsauken Board of Education, and the Pennsauken Police Department.

CERT Training Held January 13-15

The Camden County Community Emergency Response Team will be conducting a training class from Friday, Jan. 13 through Sunday, Jan. 15. Learn valuable skills that will enable you to assist families and friends in the event of an emergency. The class will be held at the Mt. Ephraim EOC, located at 508 Lambert Ave., Mt. Ephraim, N.J.  Friday night’s class starts at 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday’s classes begin at 8:00 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. Anyone interested in taking the class is asked to register no later than Monday, Jan. 9 at cert@publicsafetycc.com.
