At the beginning of the Feb. 2 meeting of Pennsauken’s Township Committee meeting, Mayor Vince Martinez was surprised by acknowledgements from representatives at the county, state, and federal level, recognizing the first Hispanic male mayor in the history of the town. Martinez was sworn in as mayor during the Township Committee reorganization meeting in January.

During the Jan. 6 Pennsauken Township Committee reorganization meeting, the governing body’s leadership was selected for 2023. Vince Martinez is the town’s newest mayor; and Patrick Olivo is this year’s deputy mayor. The is the first time the two have served Pennsauken in this capacity.

The Pennsauken Township Committee held its annual reorganization meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Pennsauken Country Club. In keeping with state social distancing directives, local attendance was limited to 60 people, including Township elected officials, the acting administrator, acting clerk, deputy clerk, attorney, videographer, and the general public. The meeting was also streamed live using Zoom conferencing software. Notice of this meeting was advertised in accordance with the “Senator Byron M. Baer Open Public Meetings Act” and publicized online through the Township’s website and social media channels.

The agenda of the reorganization meeting included the swearing in of a new mayor, deputy mayor, and committee members, as well as appointments to various professional positions.

New Members On Pennsauken Township Committee Eager To Serve

Each January, the Pennsauken residents elected last November to serve on Township Committee begin their terms of office. There is more than one new face joining the town’s local governing body, bringing different and unique perspectives, along with a desire to serve the community in which they live.

At the beginning of this month, two new voices joined the governing body representing the people of Pennsauken. Jessica Rafeh and Marco DiBattista were elected to Township Committee in November’s general election; and the two are extremely eager to serve their community.

Reorganization Public Meeting For Township Committee On January 4

The Township Committee of the Township of Pennsauken will hold their reorganization meeting on Friday, January 4, 2019, 6:30 p.m., at the Pennsauken Country Club, second floor, 3800 Haddonfield Rd., Pennsauken, NJ 08109. Prior notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance of the “Senator Byron M. Baer Open Public Meetings Act.” Formal Action Will Be Taken.

Schedule Changes Announced For Remaining 2018 Township Committee Meetings

Pennsauken’s municipal government has announced several schedule changes to the Township Committee meeting for the remainder of the year.

The meetings scheduled for Oct. 3 and 17, Nov. 7, and Dec. 5 and 19 have been cancelled. New meetings have been scheduled for Oct. 4 and 25, Nov. 8, and Dec. 6 and 20. The Township Committee meeting scheduled for Monday, Nov. 19 remains the same.

All meetings will continue to be held at the Township’s municipal building, 5605 N. Crescent Blvd., Pennsauken, at 5:30 p.m.
