Fun, food, and fireworks will be once again enjoyed by residents at Pennsauken Township’s Summer Kick Off celebration. This year’s event is held on Saturday, June 11, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, located at Westfield and Bethel avenues.
“We’re really excited for Pennsauken’s annual celebration of summer,” explained Juan Vazquez, parks and recreation coordinator. “This year’s Summer Kick Off is going to be great.”
“I can’t wait for all of the fun and fireworks on June 11,” added Pennsauken Mayor Jessica Rafeh. “I invite all of our Pennsauken families and neighbors to join us as we celebrate the start of summer.” The Summer Kick Off will feature a carnival-like atmosphere, with a stilt walker, street magician, juggler, face painting, balloon twisting, and games. Several food trucks will be on site for event goers to grab a bite to eat. To beat the heat, the Pennsauken Township Fire Department will have a misting station set up to help attendees cool off. Residents can also treat the mayor and other members of Township Committee to an impromptu soaking in the dunk tank. And be sure to grab a blanket or folding chair to enjoy the music played by the DJ throughout the event, which will lead into the evening’s impressive fireworks finale, which will begin around 8:45 p.m.
Residents will be able to park in and around the area of the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex for the Summer Kick Off. Officers from the Pennsauken Township Police Department will help to direct traffic, and the Pennsauken Fire Department and its EMS division will also be on site. The rain date for the event is Sunday, June 12, at the same time and location.
