Veterans Honored In Pennsauken

Pennsauken is honoring those in our community that served our country in the armed forces as part of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Service At VFW Post 1270

Members of VFW Post 1270 and AMVETS Post 101 will be holding a Veterans Day service on Thursday, Nov. 11, 11:00 a.m., at AMVETs Post 101, located at 519 June Rd. in the Delair section of Pennsauken. All members of the community are welcome to attend.

PHS Honors Veterans

Pennsauken High School is proud to announce a Veterans Day celebration on Thursday, Nov. 11, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event will include the posting of the colors, a flag folding ceremony and presentation, remarks from Board of Education member and Air Force veteran Diane Johnson, a ceremony at the Pennsauken High School Alumni Veterans Memorial, and more.

All local veterans are welcome to attend. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, individuals are asked to R.S.V.P. by emailing bzino@pennsauken.net or calling (856) 662-8500 ext. 5286.

Veterans Day Special At Pennsauken Country Club

For the eighth consecutive year, all military personnel, whether active or retired status, can play golf as guests of the Pennsauken Country Club on Thursday, Nov. 11. The Country Club is located at 3800 Haddonfield Rd. For more information, or to set up for a tee time that day, call the Country Club’s Pro Shop at (856) 662-4961.

Information On Local Veterans Groups

Gross-Hollinshed VFW Post 1270 is located at 2324 Penn St. in Pennsauken. There are three qualifiers for membership in the VFW: U.S. Citizenship, honorable service in the armed forces, and having served in a “war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters.” For more information, visit http://vfw1270.org.

American Legion Fredrick W. Griggs Post 68, based out of Merchantville, is one of the original posts in the American Legion Department of New Jersey. All veterans who served during qualifying conflicts are welcome to join. The Post now has an Auxiliary Unit; any women who are the spouse or the daughter of a veteran are welcome to join. AMVETS Post #101 in Delair is located at 519 June Rd. Membership is open to all who served honorably in the military of the United States. They can be contacted by calling (856) 663-8950 or e-mailing amvets101@gmail.com.

Located on Pennsauken Township’s website, Pennsauken’s online Wall of Honor recognizes Township residents, past or present, living or deceased, that proudly served in our nation’s armed forces.

This is not a complete list and will be periodically updated. If individuals know of a past or present resident, living or dead, who has served in the military that is currently not included on the Wall of Honor, they can submit the name via an easy-to-use online form.
