Wine And Cheese Tasting, Art Exhibition Held On May 19

On Sunday, May 19, the Strain Estate, better known as Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, will be hosting a special fundraiser for the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library: a wine and cheese tasting event along with a silent art auction, all of which will raise funds for the Library’s very popular Museum Pass program

The museum passes permit Pennsauken Free Public Library patrons to visit 16 different local attractions for free, including the Battleship New Jersey, Academy of Natural Sciences, Independence Seaport Museum, and Grounds for Sculpture.

Although the Museum Pass program can be enjoyed by Pennsauken Library card holders of all ages, this event is for adults only. This fundraiser will be held at 2426 N. Cove Rd. in Pennsauken, 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., in the public rooms of the historic estate and on its beautifully landscaped grounds. In case of inclement weather, the entire event will move inside.

For just $20 per person, attendees will be able to taste five different wines from New Jersey vineyards; enjoy assorted cheeses and other light refreshments; and gaze at carefully vetted hanging art: paintings, drawings, photographs, mixed media, etc. All art displayed is the work of local artists, many of whom will be present at our local “gallery.” All artwork is for sale through a silent art auction, with a portion of the price going to the Friends specifically for the Museum Pass program.

For those who want more than a taste of a local wine, additional samplings can be purchased at $5 a glass. And a few lucky door prize winners will get to take a bottle home!

Tickets may be purchased in advance by sending a check or money order for $20 per person to:  Friends of the Pennsauken Library, 5605 N. Crescent Blvd., Pennsauken, NJ  08110. On the day of the event, credit cards will be accepted for payment of tickets and artwork.

Your support of a community-based program that allows Pennsauken Library card holders to participate in the amazing cultural arts in our area is greatly appreciated.
