It was March 13 when Pennsauken Mayor Tim Killion announced the closure of Township facilities because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Seven weeks later, the local community still faces many challenges. From an ongoing “Stay at Home” mandate from state government, to businesses both big and small determining how to stay afloat, the coronavirus continues to impact all aspects of life.

As I write this, we are currently in the sixth week of remote learning and everything is going very well in Pennsauken Public Schools. The Board of Education and I wish to thank all the parents, grandparents, and guardians for their hard work. We are going through the end of year motions like every other school district, but we know how hard you have worked, the time you have put in, and the sacrifices you have made. For that, we say thank you.

Local Food Trucks Feeding The Front Line

Three local food trucks have banded together to provide some great tasting comfort to those on the front line of the battle to stop COVID-19.

Pennsauken’s own Mary’s Mobile Diner, run by resident Mary Hilbert; Red’s Rolling Restaurant, run by Hilbert’s daughter Megan; and Sabrina Brill of Not Your Mama’s Tacos, have been serving staff at Cooper University Health Care in Camden for well over a year. When the coronavirus began affecting our region in March, the three came up with a plan to “Feed the Front Line” as a way to give back those in harm’s way who are helping others.
