In a letter penned to Pennsauken residents, Mayor Tim Killion provided the latest update on the coronavirus outbreak in town.

“At last night’s Township Committee meeting on Zoom, I announced that to date, there have been 340 cases of the coronavirus in Pennsauken. And sadly, we have lost a total of seven residents from COVID-19-related complications. No amount of words can express our community’s sorrow; I ask you to keep all of these families in your thoughts and prayers,” wrote Killion. “In spite of this news, what we’re doing to stop the spread of the coronavirus is working. Social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands are helping to flatten the curve. If these practices weren’t adopted by our residents, Pennsauken would be even more severely affected.”

Killion was encouraged by residents, who have been acting responsibly with the reopening of the golf course at the Pennsauken Country Club and municipal parks being made accessible for passive recreation.

“Our residents’ response to these loosened restrictions has been very positive. We have every belief that this will continue, but our community’s resolve will be tested as we see more spring like weather. When you head outside and enjoy the sunshine, please stay safe and make smart decisions.”

Mayor Killion also announced that during May 7’s Pennsauken Township Committee meeting, a resolution was passed that officially extended the grace period for 2020’s second quarter property taxes through June 1.
