Pennsauken Library Launches Giving Tree Project
By Maira Diaz, Children’s and Young Adult Librarian
The Children’s and Young Adult Department of the Pennsauken Free Public Library invites the Pennsauken community to participate in The Giving Tree Project. This project is an opportunity to honor those you love by donating to support one or more of the following causes:
- The Ronald McDonald House
- The South Jersey Food Bank
- The Pennsauken Canine Officer Fund
Everyone is welcome to participate. This is an especially helpful way of gift-giving during the holidays and since the minimum suggested donation is just $1, it’s a great way for young children to participate in the joys of giving. This can be a great project for families, scout troops, church groups, classrooms, and others to participate in.
The Giving Tree Project starts on Thursday, December 10, 2015 and will run through to Sunday, February 14, 2016. Here’s how it works:
The Giving Tree will be located in the Children’s Area of the Pennsauken Free Public Library. It will have mini-origami gift boxes, prepared by our volunteers, hanging from its branches. Select the box of your choice and take it to the Circulation Desk. Inform the Circulation staff member which cause you are supporting and give them your donation. They will place it in the appropriate fund and give you a gift acknowledgement. At the end of each month and in mid-February, the donations collected will be sent to the corresponding organizations.
As we begin this holiday season, the season of giving, may you be blessed to pass the blessing on! Thank you and enjoy a wonder-filled holiday!
