Among Us is among us, And I want to be the Imposter!

Rachael Shugars, AAP Columnist

AmongUs started off, for me, as these weird jellybean-like characters I saw in memes, on t shirts, being talked about amongst kids of all ages. I didn’t pay much attention at first because I wasn’t sure it was something I’d be into. My son asked me to please consider buying him the game and after looking for it on his primary gaming platform I thought, “$5 bucks isn’t bad at all.” Considering I was expecting something like the $30 price tag I shelled out for Crash Bandicoot recently. Let’s be honest with Crash though, his games are legendary for anyone familiar with the trilogy or the racing game, but I’ll save that crazy bandicoot for another time.

Food Adventures at Don Tequilas

Rachael Shugars, AAP Columnist

Hello to all my loyal Food Adventurers! February is a glorious month. The late, great actor and activist Sidney Poitier was born in February along with Honest Abe Lincoln, basketball legend Michael Jordan, Queen Anne of Great Britain, AND your favorite food writer, ME! In celebration of my birthday month, I have chosen a personal favorite restaurant of mine that I frequent as much as I possibly can, especially when I have a hankering for some good, authentic Mexican comfort food.

SUBNAUTICA – An Other World Adventure

By Rachael Shugars, AAP Columnist

If you enjoy open world adventure survival games then the game I recently reviewed is just for you. Set in the oceans of another planet far, far away from the safety of Earth exists the water world of Subnautica. You play a lone survivor (or are you?) of a huge crash caused by these mysterious energy pulses of the space ship, Aurora, that lands you on the water covered surface of an unknown and completely unexplored planet.

A Visual Wonder: Concrete Genie

I like adventure games. I like the thrill of a good story line. I love sprawling, beautiful graphics. They keep me coming back for more and can, sometimes, lead to hours of gaming without even realizing it. The game I’m reviewing this month was a surprise discovery thanks to my 5-year-old, who saw the cover and insisted that I download the game immediately. He’s just so darn cute, I couldn’t say no. And I’m glad I didn’t. Pixelopus designed a game through Sony called Concrete Genie. It’s available through the PlayStation 4 console.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft

By Rachael M. Shugars, Entertainment Columnist

Hearthstone is a game developed by Blizzard Entertainment that has climbed its way to popularity since its release in 2014. Similar to something like the card game, Magic the Gathering, Hearthstone is a free-to-play online card game that allows players to build their decks and battle both computer-generated opponents and other players from around the world. Hearthstone is an offshoot of the wildly popular PC game, Warcraft. The characters you get on each card or the feats you draw all come from gameplay for the Warcraft world.

If you looked up the definition of the word fortnight, you would find something referencing the time within a 14-day period. Then you might think to yourself, “What the heck does a fortnight have to do with the game Fortnite?” I’m here to answer that question for you the best that I can.
