Senior Citizen Appreciation Day Postponed To June 12

Because of the rain forecast this afternoon, today’s Senior Citizen Appreciation Day at the Pennsauken Municipal Pool has been moved to Wednesday, June 12, noon to 4:00 p.m.

An annual tradition, Pennsauken’s senior citizens are encouraged to put on their bathing suits and have a fun day at the pool during Senior Citizen Appreciation Day, sponsored by the Township and the Parks and Recreation Department. Held on Wednesday, June 12, noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Municipal Pool, 6100 River Rd., Pennsauken seniors aged 62 and over are set to enjoy a variety of free, fun activities. The pool will be open for swimming or a quick dip. Atrium Dance Studio will get attendees on the dance floor with a special lesson. A DJ will be playing music favorites throughout the event, and volunteers will be running BINGO. In addition, Pennsauken’s Public Works staff and first responders will be grilling for the event, and members of Township Committee will be serving food to guests.

Senior Scam Presentation On November 2

As part of an ongoing commitment to public safety, Pennsauken Township is reaching out to senior citizens about how to avoid scams that are specifically targeting their community. A special presentation hosted by the Township, Pennsauken Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2:00 p.m., at the Homestead Youth Association, located at 4771 Willow Ave. in Pennsauken.

“Our concern is to make sure our seniors are prepared for any scams, anybody trying to take advantage of them,” said Township Committeeman Marco DiBattista, who serves as Pennsauken’s Director of Public Safety and the Liaison to Seniors. “We want to make sure that everybody is aware of what scams are out there and what to do if something happens.”

After the presentation, seniors will be able to have their questions answered about the topic. Light refreshments will also be served.

Space is limited. Interested seniors must R.S.V.P. by Monday, Oct. 30 to Amy Schmalbach at (856) 665-1000 x152 or at aschmalbach@pennsauken.gov.

Senior Citizen Appreciation Day Postponed

“Pennsauken Township Committee and our Parks and Recreation Department have made the decision to postpone Thursday’s Senior Citizen Appreciation Day at the Pennsauken Municipal Pool,” the Township said in an online statement. “The ongoing poor air quality issues from the Canadian wildfires prevent us from safely holding this event.”

The new date for this event is Thursday, June 15, from noon to 4:00 p.m., at the Municipal Pool. Anyone with questions regarding this change can contact seniors@pennsauken.gov or call 856-665-1000 x151 or x152.
