The Pennsauken Historical Society invites all members of the community to the historic Griffith Morgan Homestead for a free open house on Sunday, Aug. 2, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The Griffith Morgan Homestead will be open for guided tours throughout the afternoon, along with exhibits of the history of the more than 300-year-old community that grew into today’s Pennsauken Township.
The history of this old colonial homestead, built for Alexander Morgan, the son of Welsh mariner Griffith Morgan who settled at the site, evokes the lives of the earliest European settlers and the successor residents whose lives shaped our own in this 250th year of the nation. The remarkable story that the old homestead tells is the story of our community, our region and our country, not populated with heroes, but with people; not measured in great events, but in lives.
This free, family-friendly event is open to everyone, with free parking available on-site. Memberships to Pennsauken Historical Society and volunteer opportunities are always available for you! Donations to support our work in local history and preservation are always appreciated as well.
Griffith Morgan Homestead is located at 243 Griffith Morgan Lane, located off River Rd. between Delair and Rt. 73.
