Pennsauken’s first responders are holding special events during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 4, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
National Night Out fosters positive relationships between public safety officials and the communities they serve, while also encouraging crime prevention and community engagement. Held on the first Tuesday in August in most areas, local police departments, fire departments, and community organizations host events that bring residents together with first responders.
Pennsauken will hold National Night Out activities at two locations on Aug. 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At Pennsauken Police Headquarters, 2400 Bethel Ave., officers will hold building tours throughout the event; a variety of first responder vehicles will be on display; and officers will be grilling for attendees, while supplies last. There will also be games and giveaways, as well as a meet and greet with police officers, firefighters, and EMS staff. At the Pennsauken Police’s substation at 47th St. and Westfield Ave., guests will be able to speak with first responders; vehicles will be on display in the parking lot; and refreshments will be served while supplies last.
“Hosting National Night Out provides a unique opportunity for residents and law enforcement to come together, build trust, and strengthen our shared commitment to safety,” said Pennsauken Police Chief Philip Olivo. “By engaging directly with our community, we not only enhance public safety but also reinforce the bonds that make our community resilient and vibrant.”
“Being a part of Pennsauken’s National Night Out activities is a great opportunity to share important fire safety information and demonstrate our dedication to protecting our residents,” added Chief Jonathan Hutton of the Pennsauken Township Fire Department. “We look forward to welcoming everyone, building stronger relationships, and celebrating the spirit of community togetherness.”
