South Jersey Thunder Begins Inaugural Season In Pennsauken

There’s a new semi-pro football team in the Northeast Atlantic Football League, and they’ve decided to call Pennsauken home.

The South Jersey Thunder kicked off its inaugural season in February as part of the Northeast Atlantic Football League, a group of minor league football teams, who according to the league’s Facebook page, “are striving to bring minor league football to a more professional level.”

The Thunder is owned by Raymond Lynn, Jr., a husband and father who like many, is working to find a balance between his love of football and his family responsibilities.

SJThunderUniform“I chose to build a team that would support young men with talent who showed promise in their skill set but missed their opportunity because of family responsibility,” explains Lynn on the GoFundMe page that was set up to help support the team. He went on to say that the Thunder’s roster is made up of “young, responsible men.”

“We have gathered some of the most talented men from all over South Jersey,” added Lynn.

The Thunder is currently in fourth place in the League’s Patriot Division. Lynn explained that the team is working to gel together and that they are continuing to improve.

The South Jersey Thunder has three remaining home games on its schedule: April 11 against the Delco County Cowboys, from 2 to 5 p.m.; April 25 against the Levittown Rebels, from 6 to 9 p.m.; and May 9 against the South Jersey Phoenix, from 6 to 9 p.m. Home games are held at the PYAA Football Field on Elm Ave. Parking is available at the PYAA Field House. Tickets are $3 per person and bleacher seating is available.
