Camden County Distributes Free Fans To Senior Citizens

To help senior citizens beat the heat this summer, the Camden County Freeholder Board is once again distributing free fans. Camden County residents age 60 and older with an income of $25,000 or less are eligible to receive a fan.

Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Application Deadline Is October 31

The deadline for seniors to apply for the Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) Program is Wednesday, Oct. 31.

This program reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled persons for property tax or mobile home park site fee increases on their principal residence. To qualify, you must meet all the eligibility requirements for each year from the base year through the application year. (The current year is 2017.)

For application year 2017, the State Budget (FY2019) set the following qualifications for Senior Freeze payments: Only applicants whose 2017 income did not exceed $70,000 (the original limit was $87,268) were eligible as long as they met all the other requirements.

Nutrition Vouchers Available For Senior Citizens

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides low-income seniors in Camden County with coupons that can be exchanged for eligible foods (fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs) at farmers’ markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.

Eligibility guidelines based on household size:

  • Individual – $1,832.00 a month or less
  • Couple – $2,470.00 a month or less

Senior citizens must be at least 60 years old and reside in Camden County and show proof of income:  Social Security Statement, pay stubs, EBT Card, Medicaid Card or current income tax return.

Pennsauken’s Senior Citizen Prom Held On April 22

Sponsored by the Pennsauken Education Association through a PRIDE in Education grant and support from the Pennsauken School District, the Senior Citizen Prom will be on Sunday, April 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken High School Cafeteria, 800 Hylton Rd.. This great annual event features lunch, great music to dance to, a photo booth, freebies, and more.

Wellness Fair Held At Pennsauken High School On March 18

The Pennsauken Education Association, in conjunction with the Pennsauken School District, is hosting a wellness fair on Sunday, March 18, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd.

Lucky Hearts Senior Bingo On February 20

The Camden County Board of Freeholders presents Lucky Hearts: Free Senior Bingo on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m., at which time there will be entertainment and lunch will be served. Seating is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. You must be a Camden County resident to attend.

Camden County Holds Senior Citizen Legal Workshops

Hello fellow seniors.

The Camden County Board of Freeholders, the Department of Health and Human Services – Division of Senior and Disabled Services, and the Surrogate’s Office announce free legal workshops for senior and disabled residents of Camden County. Those attending these workshops receive, at no cost, a last will and testament, an advance directive for health care (living will) and power of attorney (POA).

Pennsauken’s Senior Citizen Prom Held On April 2

Hello fellow seniors.

Sponsored by the Pennsauken Education Association, the Senior Citizen Prom will be on Sunday, April 2 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken High School Cafeteria. This great annual event features lunch; great music to dance to, courtesy of High Noone Express; and the Optical Academy will also be on hand from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. to provide eye exams. Immediately after the prom, seniors will be escorted to the auditorium to watch Pennsauken High School’s performance of “The Wedding Singer.” And it’s all FREE to Pennsauken seniors!

AARP Tax Help For Seniors Runs Through April 13

New Processes Require Residents To Bring Additional Materials

The Pennsauken Free Public Library will once again be hosting AARP Tax Help sessions. This free service will be available in the Library’s Community Room, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
